about

On its accomplished debut album "Fast Corners", Trio JDM draws inspiration from the legacy of Jimmy Smith and Larry Young, as extended today by acts like Goldings/Bernstein/Stewart. Indeed, a fine version of Peter Bernstein's "Little Green Men" features here, alongside four original tunes each from Messrs. Longhawn and Taylor, and a joyous reading of Charlie Parker's "Ah-Leu-Cha". In short, expect a compelling and varied set of contemporary mainstream jazz, with dashes of fusion and funk for good measure.

PRESS:

"One of the most enjoyable albums in this format that I’ve heard in quite some time. It’s good to hear an organ trio recording that places the main focus on original material, and the intelligent and varied writing of both Longhawn and Taylor fully justifies this decision. It’s also good to hear an organ trio album that eschews the usual ‘Blue Note cliches’ in favour of something more adventurous. On the evidence of this excellent recording this is a group that I would very much like to see performing live."
